On December 9, 2017, Fulbright grantees and alumni braved the cold for a visit to one of Belgium’s  most scenic cities, Brugge.

Participants started off with a guided walking tour of the city. The tour featured many of Brugge’s most famous sites, including the Basilica of the Holy Blood and the Belfry on the Grote Markt. However, participants also strayed from the beaten path to visit sites like St. Donatian’s church, the ruins of which are hidden in the basement of a local hotel, and to step inside a historic almshouse.

After two hours in the cold, dinner at a traditional restaurant was the perfect way to warm up! The evening ended with a visit to the Kerstmarkt Brugge for a sampling of some holiday specialties.
