As you all know, this year we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Fulbright Program in Belgium and Luxembourg. Let me give you more details on our plans so far ...
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008: Concert with Queen Elisabeth Competition finalist and Fulbright alumnus Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium. This will be a Members-Only event with limited space; Saturday, October 18th, 2008: Academic session at the Palais des Académies/Paleis der Academiën on “US-Belgian-EU relations: past, present and future”. Our speakers will be Professor Francis Balace (Université de Liège), Professor Luc Reychler (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), and Professor Alison Woodward (Vesalius College/Vrije Universiteit Brussel). Our moderator for the event will be Minister of State Herman De Croo. All of the speakers and the moderator are, of course, Fulbright alumni and we think the panelists will be outstanding as well as the discussion afterwards, that will be so extremely well moderated by Minister De Croo. The Academic Session will be followed by a reception at the Palais/Paleis; Saturday, November 15th, 2008: Gala Dinner at the Cercle de Lorraine/Club van Lotharingen with a distinguished guest speaker; A new alumni directory: please remember to update your information via the form at the end of this Newsletter or on-line at http://www.faab.be/. A directory is only as accurate as you are; A memento of the 60th Anniversary.
We do hope that many of you will join us to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this extraordinary Fulbright program and that you will continue to support it in the future.
